Disclaimer
Billbana is software for producing invoices. It is not a tax, accounting or legal adviser, and an invoice is not compliant merely because Billbana produced it.

1. What Billbana is
Billbana is billing and invoicing software. It helps you record your business details, your customers and the items you sell, and produce a professional invoice document from them — on screen, as a PDF, or on paper.
That is the whole of what it does.
2. What Billbana is not
Billbana does not provide, and must not be relied on as:
- legal advice;
- tax advice, including any advice on GST;
- accounting or bookkeeping advice;
- financial, investment or business advice; or
- any professional service that requires a qualified practitioner.
Nor is Billbana:
- an accounting system — it keeps no books of account, no ledger, no trial balance, no profit and loss account and no balance sheet;
- a GST return-filing service, a GST Suvidha Provider, an e-invoicing Invoice Registration Portal, or an e-way bill platform;
- a payment service — it processes no payments, records no receipts and tracks no outstanding balances. The Paid and Pending markers are labels you set yourself and mean nothing beyond that;
- an inventory, stock or purchasing system; or
- a substitute for a chartered accountant or a tax practitioner.
3. An invoice from Billbana is not proof of compliance
The fact that a document was generated using Billbana does not mean it is correct, valid, or compliant with the GST law or any other law.
Billbana calculates from what you enter. It applies the tax treatment implied by the states and rates you have recorded, and it presents the result in a conventional Indian invoice layout. It does not, and cannot:
- verify a GSTIN or PAN against the GST Network or any government database;
- confirm that an HSN or SAC code is the right one for what you are selling;
- confirm that a GST rate is the rate currently applicable to that supply;
- determine the correct place of supply for an unusual transaction;
- know whether reverse charge, an exemption, a composition scheme, an export or SEZ treatment, or any special provision applies to you; or
- keep pace automatically with every change in tax law, rate or invoice-format requirement.
Requirements also change over time. What was a correctly formed invoice when it was issued may not meet a later requirement.
4. What you are responsible for
You — not Billbana — are responsible for:
- the accuracy of everything you enter: your business details, your customers’ details, descriptions, quantities, rates, discounts, tax rates, HSN and SAC codes and GSTINs;
- deciding whether an invoice should be a GST invoice at all, and on what basis;
- checking each invoice before you issue it;
- your own registrations, returns, filings, records and payment of tax;
- retaining your records for as long as the law requires; and
- taking professional advice where your circumstances call for it.
If you are unsure whether an invoice meets a legal requirement that applies to you, please ask a qualified chartered accountant or tax practitioner. Please do not treat this software, or anything on this website, as the answer.
5. A free service, provided as is
Billbana is free and is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty. To the maximum extent the law permits, we accept no liability for any loss arising from its use — including from an incorrect calculation, a non-compliant invoice, lost data or the service being unavailable. The full terms are in the no-warranty and liability clauses of our Terms of Use.
Verify every invoice before you use it, and keep your own copies: download your data regularly from Settings → Account → Your data.
